POST as festival heart

Published on: 07 May 2019

The fourth edition of the Rotterdam Architecture Month (RAM) brings its own stage for the first time, in the heart of the city: POST Podium. This year POST acts as the heart of the festival. From May 24 to June 16, the former Post Office at Coolsingel will be transformed into the central point for Rotterdam Architecture. The monumental building will open its doors to the public one more time during #RAM19. Then the transformation into a mixed-use complex with two majestic covered squares, hotel, restaurants, cafes and shops will start!

Architectural program

Post Podium houses a large part of the architectural program during the Rotterdam Architecture Month (RA Month). You can explore models of city developments such as Feyenoord City, Heart of South, the Coolsingel and the Rijnhaven. You can also learn about the ambitions for the POST: Rotterdams heritage with international allure.

We are excited that Omnam Group offers a hospitable stage for the RA Month by opening the doors of the former post office. POST Podium is not just a stunning festival heart, it offers the public the chance to visit the iconic building one last time before its transformation. For the upcoming editions, we carry the ambition to look for an even more exciting space as the beating heart of the festival.

Transformation

Eran Chen (ODA architecture, New York), along with Braaksma & Roos from The Hague, give form to the transformation of POST. During the opening lecture of RA Month he goes in depth into the high quality of the ‘adaptive’ re-use of buildings with various functions. An important task for the future of inner cities around the globe. He will discuss this with Kees Kaan (Kaan Architecten).

We can not wait for this Rotterdams monument, after more than two years of research and developments in collaboration with partners of the city, to renovate on a high level and open again as a public building of the city. During RA Month we introduce the public to our plans and offer them the opportunity to visit the building once again in its current state. We are looking forward to welcome everyone in POST.
